Many students must repeat their high school course work in Mathematics at Midlands Technical College because of poor
performance on the test used for Math course placement. This poor performance may be due to a number of factors, one
being a failure to retain the course material and another being no attempts to review course material prior to taking the
placement test. The links I have included on this page are resources that can be used to review and prepare for the
Math placement test.
The Mathematics Department also offers exemption exams for MAT 101 (Algebra 1) and MAT 102 (Algebra 2) that may be taken
during the first three days of class or by appointment with the Department Chair of Mathematics. A score of 70%
or better is required to enroll in the next level course.
